Compact and lightweight

The IC-M85E is one of the most compact and lightweight professional‑grade marine and land VHF transceivers available. Its small footprint (56 × 92 × 36.2 mm) and low weight (281 g with battery, antenna and belt clip) make it ideal for extended use without fatigue.

PMR frequency coverage 136–174 MHz

In addition to marine VHF channels, the IC‑M85E supports PMR channels in the 136–174 MHz band. Up to 100 programmable channels are available for land use, each configurable with CTCSS and DTCS tones.

Powerful 700 mW audio

Despite its compact form factor, the IC‑M85E delivers 700 mW of loud audio, ensuring clear, intelligible communications even in noisy environments such as shipyards, ports, and workboats.

Secure communications

The radio includes a built‑in voice scrambler enabling private communications between stations. It supports 32 scrambler codes and is compatible with the optional UT‑112 unit.

Automatic emergency alarm

The IC‑M85E integrates three operator safety functions: MOB (Man Overboard), Man Down, and Lone Worker. When triggered, the radio automatically sends an emergency alarm.

Instant operation with multi‑function key

The top‑panel multi‑function key lets you assign quick actions such as changing channel group (marine ⇔ PMR) or enabling/disabling the scrambler. Press‑and‑hold also activates the key lock.

Rugged IP67 and MIL‑STD build

Engineered for harsh environments, the IC‑M85E provides IP67 protection (submersion to 1 metre for 30 minutes) and full dust ingress protection. It also meets MIL‑STD‑810 requirements.
